People of Earth!
Thank you all very much for this overwhelmingly positive response! We have reached critical mass, and are moving forward with The Device full speed.
As mentioned before, bringing a new product to market - especially as a first time inventor - is a long and difficult process. But with your incredible collective enthusiasm I'm going to make this happen as quickly as humanly possible.
As for some specific concerns many of you have posted:
YES, The Device is "for reals", and we're working out the last kinks of the production pipeline,
YES, there will be OSX and Windows support (Linux shortly thereafter),
YES there will be an easy (relatively) to use API for writing new input plugins, much like winamp, and a user-centered community for sharing them. In fact I plan to release the entire software package open-source. Again, please only use it for Good.
YES I am trying desperately to make The Device affordable. I'm in the process of sourcing new (cheaper) components and production practices as you read this very text.
YES I read every damned comment posted, and take your suggestions to heart. I agree that the lamp on top needs to be even more beautiful, and that there should be tiny label slots. Some sort of (optional) noise when it lights up is also a brilliant suggestion. Assuming this venture is successful, I plan on offering a full range of Indicating Apparatus. If your needs aren't met by The Device, hopefully I can meet them with another inscrutable product soon.
And finally, NO, I can't believe how well this thing has been received so far. Your enthusiasm is far beyond what I could have ever expected for a bizarre, niche-market item such as this.
Again, thank you all, and keep the comments (and suggestions) coming!
